What is Portable Appliance Testing?
Appliances can easily become damaged or deteriorate over time, leading to a risk of shock or safety; this makes PAT testing an important service for all businesses with electrical equipment.
Many safety defects in your appliances can be found through a visual examination but some faults will only become apparent through testing using specialist equipment.
We offer a fully comprehensive service of annual portable appliance testing for businesses to not only ensure that they comply with health and safety standards but also for insurance purposes.

Who Can Complete a PAT Test?
The engineer completing your PAT test must have adequate electrical knowledge and experience. It is advised to ensure that those testing and inspecting your electricity are highly trained, experienced and accredited.
The Kingson Electrical team are NICEIC accredited, and our electricians have been deemed competent in PAT testing in order to check and certify your appliances. The team will always inform you when your electrical appliances are dangerous or require a repair or replacement.

Why is PAT Testing Important?
Portable appliances refers to anything that is plugged into the wall through a socket, such as a computer, and with these appliances being regularly used for long periods of time within commercial environments, defects and faults can occur more frequently than in domestic settings. After testing, you will be provided with a PAT test certificate, and stickers will be placed on all appliances tested with the test date and next test due date.
Depending on your business, you may have a range of appliances that will require testing. Everything from the communal kettle to computers will be tested during your PAT testing service.

What is Included in a PAT Test?
When our team complete PAT testing, numerous components are tested to determine their safety including:
- Visual Inspection
- Continuity Test
- Earthing Test
- Insulation Soundness
- Cable Damage
AFTER OUR TESTS, THE TEAM WILL INFORM YOU OF ANY HAZARDS AND POTENTIAL DANGERS.
